802.1X
With the growth of wireless networks and the need for standard and secure authentication, privacy and differentiated user access organizations are exploring the use of 802.1X. 802.1X and WPA2 provides the most secure form of wireless access. The ability to deploy a distributed authentication framework that works over any vendor's 802.1X capable wireless and wired networks adds a new level of interoperability and network security.
Components of 802.1X include a client-side supplicant, an authenticator and the device that is actually performing authentications, an authentication server. eTIPS acts as the authentication server in an 802.1X transaction. It has support for all popular EAP methods: PEAP, EAP-TLS, EAP-TTLS, EAP-FAST. Layered on top of this, eTIPS provides a policy platform that allows you to create high level policies and hide the complexity of interactions with the network infrastructure and the identity stores.
The eTIPS platform provides the following benefits:
- Best-in-class 802.1X implementation, including support for a comprehensive set of EAP methods
- Unified policies for wired and wireless networks using policy building blocks
- Built-in support for a large number of network devices
- Easily define role based fine-grained access privileges
- Built-in wizards to ease 802.1X configuration
- Avenda Quick1X to easily deploy supplicants to the endpoints.
